Service Description
Learn how to demystify watercolor painting and have fun with this versatile medium. Practice exercises to explore values, water-to-paint ratios, glazing, charging colors and more. Explore painting landscapes, expressive paintings and still lifes in this four week course. Study master watercolorists such as Sargent, Hopper and others for inspiration. List of supplies students should bring to class: -Cold press watercolor pad, 9x12 inches, 140 lb, 300 g, 30 sheets, Canson or another low cost brand such as Strathmore -Inexpensive bound sketch pad, 8” x 10” or 9” x 12” -H, HB and 2B graphite pencils and sharpener -Kneaded and plastic erasers -Masking tape, light colored, OR large clips -Clip board or surface to tape or clip watercolor paper onto -Professional-quality tubes of watercolor paint; 5 ml size tube is fine from Winsor & Newton or Daniel Smith brands. Suggested colors OR use what tube paints you already have: 1. Azo Yellow 2. Naples Yellow 3. Scarlet Lake 4. Permanent Rose 5. French Ultramarine 6. Cobalt Blue 7. Burnt Sienna 8. Winsor Violet (Dioxazine) 9. Sepia 10. Viridian OR a set of professional quality watercolor paints in a pan format -Palette to mix colors, porcelain or enamel preferred over plastic -Synthetic Rounds Brushes, sizes #2, #4, #6, #1;, one flat brush 3⁄4 inch or 1 inch approximately or use what you have.
