Service Description

Ikat-Indigo Dyeing Workshop Calling all weavers! Join us for a workshop on Ikat warping and indigo dyeing. This technique involves binding some areas of the warp before dyeing the yarn and dressing the loom. This binding will prevent the warp from taking up dye (also known as resist dyeing). Once the wrapping is done, we will dye the warp (and weft) in an indigo dye bath. The results are beautiful blue and white weavings that are whimsical and delicate. Notes: This workshop is for weavers with experience making a warp. No dyeing experience necessary. The workshop does not include dressing the loom and weaving the fabric. The cost of the workshop does NOT include warp and weft yarns. If you need yarn, please contact Mary (mwbrooks110@gmail.com) and she can help. Yarn for this project must be cotton or bamboo - wool and synthetics will NOT take up the indigo dye. When: Saturday 10/31 1-4pm and Sunday 11/1 10-1pm Where: Mystic Open Studio: 785 Mass Ave, Arlington Cost: $150
